| THERAPEUTIC PRACTICE ORIENTATION
We work from equality (anti-oppressive), client-centered and psychodynamic perspectives. What you bring to therapy is the most important aspect of your journey. Our role is that of a map reader to assist, aid, and encourage. Our specific training and objectivity allows us to have a different view of you and the problem that you are dealing with. This is helpful because when you are in the middle of something it is very difficult to be objective. This collaborative approach is guided by you. We begin by you telling your story and identifying your ideas on change. You create goals and we measure together how things are progressing. Together we can work at making change and create a space for you to begin to reclaim your life, past, security, confidence, peace of mind, childhood, relationship, spirit, identity, and your hope! This means that:
A primary focus for us is creating a relationship of acceptance and mutual respect with each client, providing affirming, empowering, confidential, and effective psychotherapy services for individuals, families and groups. We encourage self reflective thinking which helps in processing and moving beyond emotional barriers to achieve your goals. You move in your preferred direction while reviewing and reframing your self view and your perspective on the problem. We focus and encourage you to build on your strengths while validating your feelings, experiences, thoughts and actions. Meaning is co-constructed and our aim is to assist people to give voice to what living with their situation/condition means to them. We encourage you to realize the connection between emotions and the body. Trauma and stress in life effect health and lead to symptoms, the body is the container for our emotions and our experiences. We promote strategies to promote health and wellness. |
