ABOUT LORI

Be the change you want to see in the world.   --Ghandi

I was born in the United States Virgin Islands and came to Canada with my mother, who was Canadian, and sister in 1975. We moved to the Niagara Region from Toronto in 1981. As an active member of the community I have participated in many of the cultural festivals and celebrations. I am a musician and enjoy singing in WomEnchant Choir.

I first became interested in psychotherapy as a profession as a pre-teen when I noticed that people liked to talk to me about many issues.  I grew up in a home where social conscience and community activism was encouraged.  My family routinely assisted individuals and families to improve their life in a variety of ways.  I came to value the life I had and what I could offer others and have always admired the tenacity and resiliency of the human spirit.

I am a registered Social Worker and I offer Psychotherapy/Counselling, Clinical Supervision, Training, Coaching & Consultation.

More information can be obtained about this designation at http://www.ocswssw.org/.  I am an experienced psychotherapist and thus offer the latest therapy modalities in a private and supportive setting. I am continually attending professional development workshops and training.  I am committed to on-going research and learning in order to meet the variety of needs of all of my clients.

I work with Individuals, couples, triads, quads, families, and groups with a variety of issues such as trauma, relationship, sexual and gender diversity. I have particular passion, experience and training working with LGBTTTIQ, Polyamorous (Couples, Triads, Quads, etc.), and BDSM.  I am also Part time Faculty teaching in the Social Service Worker program at Niagara College Welland Campus.

I have been working in social services for 20 years and my credentials include:

Master’s Degree in Social Work, Wilfrid Laurier, Waterloo Ontario
Bachelor of Social Work, Niagara University, Lewiston, New York
Diploma in Social Services, Niagara College of Applied Arts and Technology, Welland, Ontario
